I did a 9h00 to 18h00 day... a hard day... of FUN
Europa Park is an amusement park in Rust, Germany near the border of France. All the signs are in German, then French, then English. A good place to practice German nonetheless. The park is separated out into different areas representing different European countries (not to be confounded with European Union countries) including Germany (the entrance, no attractions), France, the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Iceland, Spain, the Netherlands, Russia, Scandanavia as well as the African colonies, a Grimm brothers story village and a newly built Arthur and the Invisibles theme park.
Normally I am not a amusement park kinda gal, but this was insane and totally worth it! When I was younger, I more often went to LaRonde (Montreal) with my parents and so there was no pressure to go do the big girl and big boy rides (and secretly, I think my parents didn't want us to want to do them, so they didn't have to do them either). With peers, we are more likely to go do the scary rides. We were the perfect group actually! I was invited by my classmates Quentin, Lucie and Emre to the Europa Park. We all had the same threshold and desire for the intensity of the rides.
The day we chose was perfect in a way. We are pretty early in the season and high school kids aren't off school yet, The weather was "shitty"; it was a cloudy day and it rained a little here and there (as you can see on the first picture). For us this meant absolutely NO LINEUPS! We had time to do every important ride TWICE (if not four times heheh)
Here are a couple rides we experienced :
Universe of Energy
DINOSAUR LAND so reeeeeeal
Robert would have been so into this when we were kids
Matterhorn Blitz (Switzerland, shoutout to Brobro)
Quick, just enough time for a selfie before the ride starts!
Left to right: Emre, Quentin, Michmich, Lucie
Not realizing the drop we will be experiencing (apparently the largest drop of any wild mouse in the world - according to Wikipedia). Also, the elevator that brings us up tilts in this very caricatural way that I much appreciated. There is a lot of attention put to detail in decoration and experience in these rides. They are quite spectacular :O
On the second drop... looking classy
Second time, not looking better hahahaha
How is it that the guys look more surprised even though we know what's coming
Inside and out intricacies! A magnificent and magical place. I was sceptical at first, thinking that it was just for kids and all cute but reeeally it was the most amazing thing I saw at the Europa Park! The ride goes through different sections as if you are the camera filming the movie, slowing down and speeding up at the perfect moments. It's super interactive as well, I mean, we get to kill the bad guy at the end. If the lineup hadn't been so long (really one of the only attractions with a decent line), I would have done it a third time for sure. The only thing we could do without is the vibrating seats uuuuugh. ;)
Blue Fire (Iceland)
BLUE FIRE!!!
We look calm... because we have not realized yet the fear we would experience in 20 minutes
This roller coaster is known to be one of the scariest and the only one with a loop. They explained that to me as we walked on by. We waited to see one run through and feeling confident after a full morning of rides I had never tried before I said it didn't look bad, let's do it.
The ride starts with an acceleration from nothing to 100km/h in 4 seconds... oh my... and then as we approached the first climb I started REGRETTING EVERYTHING! After the initial drop there isn't anything quite as extreme. The loop was enjoyable actually. Then the pivots around the rail however were freaky. We felt so accomplished at the end, and then we were masochistic enough go do it again later in the afternoon.
I think I was having too much fun here ;)

Reminds me of "Le Monstre" at LaRonde...all wood; how can that be safe !?! It's really noisy needless to say. It seems scary because it is so loud but it's quite alright after the first drop (as are most roller coasters, really). This ride had a really intricate queue line, however. We did not take any pictures, but there is a whole "underground" part where there is a mining theme and stone with riddles to solve to kill the time.
Because I can't take a serious picture...
Because we were bored waiting in line...
Out of all the pictures, we admittedly look the best here surprisingly :P
Ducks casually walking through the inexistant lineups :)
Who's idea was it to do rafting on a cloudy day... I received most of the splashing. However, towards the end, Emre is really the one that got attacked by the waves muahahaha
So much regret hahahaaha
Food court in Greece
Food is an attraction too
nomnomnom
PLUS none of it ever came back up :D
Euro-Tower (France)
We decided to have a view of what we did at the end to feel fully accomplished :D
We made a full circle: This was our first ride and our last:
Eurosat (France)
It is one of the oldest of the park. It is a sphere with rails inside that do sharp turns, but here is the thing: you're in the dark! When you are ascending, you are in complete darkness as the tension begins and then a voice counts down in a spaceship lift-off style. You start with a steep drop and then unpredictable turns and flashing lights. Absolutely stimulating.. so much so that we went a second time and at closing twice more before 18h00 :P
We definitely got our money's worth that day
***We did not take many pictures because we were too busy having fun, but I wish had something for Pegasus and Poseidon in Greece because we really did enjoy them
I really appreciate the great day that we had (it almost made me forget that I only slept 4.5 hours the night before)
Merci infiniment Quentin, Lucie et Emre pour une merveilleuse journée <3

Looks like some really neat sites. You would haver not gotten me on that roller coaster!
