Not long after my "stage" I was already off to visit the Brobro in Lausanne. (Let's just say sleep has become a luxury and not a necessity anymore at this point).
Saturday, April 25th
I caught a train in Kehl to Lausanne at 10 am, arrived around 2 pm.
We did our grocery shopping and cooking like a big girl and boy that know how to live on their own now ;)
I discovered that Robert actually lives in the country and that it really requires a bike to get around in any decent amount of time.
Robert organized this awesome potluck in the common room (I wish I had a common room that wasn't the kitchen)! We were late of course... but we made awesome "galettes" of potato, asparagus and mozzarella cheese. Everyone that joined us was from his building; our good friend Cheng from back home, 2 other Quebeckers, 1 Quebecker originally from Columbia, 3 Italians, 1 Pole, 1 Turk and 1 half-Swiss and half-Peruvian guy. We had pasta, 2 salads (we so healthy), bruchetta, mozzarella and tomato, Comté cheese (from my trip to the Jura), an awesome Chinese-Peruvian fusion chicken rice dish, and for dessert a Turkish confection (flour, sugar, olive oil, cinnamon and peanuts) and chocolate covered strawberries nom nom nom nom (I'm pretty sure I am missing something...). The night continued with some VERY amateur beer pong as a storm raged outside. One Italian got very funny after downing some Polish vodka and started asking us if we were proud to be "insert nationality" as we screamed that he was a racist several times (you had to be there).
Sunday, April 26th
Robert and the three Italians and their other Italian friend (a girl) planned a day trip out to Montreux, city of jazz apparently (but it wasn't the season). As we waited for them to arrive by car (we took the train) we visited to boardwalk by the lake which was dead as it was a Sunday.
One of the most striking things about Switzerland around Lake Geneva is the incredible view of the Alps. It was breathtaking the first time my train from Berne gave me a glimpse and it continued to be breathtaking every time after.
Look who we bumped into on the boardwalk!
Freddy Mercury!! Robert and I had a huge Queen phase after we watched Wayne's World for the first time and heard Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time.
Freddy Mercury recorded his last songs in Montreux at Mountain Studios so they erected this statue of him in his memory.
Patiently waiting with our food for the Italians to show
While waiting, why not take more pictures of the view of the mountains!
The Italians arrived and we entered into the historical monument
Once I got in, I still couldn't stop taking pictures of the mountains outside again..
and again...
and again...
and again...wait for it...
I was amazed to find out that the castle was built on such a slanted foundation of sedimentary rock. After my fieldtrip all geography related things jumped out at me.
This is underground :O
Used for a prison and food storage
I forget what this room was for
Look at how amazed Robert is by this room though (or tired)
Our mystery Italians oooouh (my phone doesn't focus well...)
Twinsies
View out of the canon holes
View out to one of the many courts
"Bow down to me my subjects"
View of Montreux
and again.
I went down lower by the water on the rocks to be closer to the mountains. They were calling for me
xD
After the visit, we had our homemade sandwiches (thanks again Robert for that) close to the water.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the reason why we ended up waiting for the Italians was, one because they got a late start, but also, two because they got a flat tire. Before Robert and I made it back to the EPFL area to play volleyball, we watched Mattia change a tire. Very funny. Very Maaaaario (only as a mechanic, not as a plumber) *raaaaaaaacist* I know.
Next stop beach volleyball
Traaaaaaains
So we suck at beach volleyball, moral of the afternoon.
Monday, April 27th
We went for the Lausanne city tour in the morning before I left to go back home.
First stopping by the cathedral
The view from in front of the cathedral
And the inside
Surprise surprise it's called the Notre Dame Cathedral....
Then we went to the St-François (shout out to Papa) Church, not far from the cathedral
We passed by la Place de la Palud
And the Asian comes out
looooook a draaaaagon (shout out to Zag)
St-François Church
The organ was playing when we entered
Our final destination was Ouchy by the lake... where I realized anything coming from there was DOUCHY hahahahaahahhaha (d'Ouchy)
5. Guess who we found on douchy dock (quai d'Ouchy), rock-hard abs sun-bathing. Gosh, such a show off. So douchy he only needs to be a torso, who needs any other body part.
#5 is actually part of the order exposition from the Olympic Museum. Lausanne is the Olympic Capital because it hosts the International Olympic Committee. On a Monday it was closed though. We still got to examine amazing things on the lawn.
Montréal yay!
I unfortunately didn't many pictures :(
And that concludes my stay with the Brobro in Switzerland

Nice pictures. Looks like you had a great time.
